Standards NEW YORK STATE REGENTS HIGH SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS The Year-by-Year Phase-in of the Regents Exams These tables detail the implementation of New York States new Regents Learning Standards. Each year, students become responsible for passing additional Regents exams. When the new Regents standards are fully phased-in, students will have to pass exams in five subject areas to graduate. The exams will be phased-in the following order: English, Math, Global History and Geography, U.S. History and Government, and Science. The following tables indicate when high school graduating class becomes responsible for passing each Regents exam. For example, if you scroll to the 2000-2001 table you will see that this years graduating seniors (those in grade 12) must pass the English and the Math Regents exams.
