From EPP about the city budget

From Noreen Connell: This morning there was some confusion as to the outcome of the budget negotiations between the City Council and the Mayor. As of an hour ago (1 pm), it was confirmed that Teachers Choice (supply money for teachers) reduction has been reversed (+$16 million) and that the City Council will add $10 million for class size reduction to the $25 million that the Chancellor has set aside to maintain class sizes in the third grade. It is unclear, at this time, whether 1) the $35 million has to be spent just for third grade class sizes or 2)  the additional  $10 million can be spent for k-2 class sizes and the $25 million just for third grade classes or 3) the $35 million will be spent for class size reduction from k to 3. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
