Panel for Educational Policy (formerly the Board of Education (BOE)) - The thirteen members are appointed as follows: one parent representative by each Borough President and eight, including the Chancellor, by the Mayor. Unlike the former Board of Education, the new panel lacks broad policy-making authority. However they are expected to vote on major education policy and budgetary matters.
